Grade 5 - Literacy

Hello to all Grade Five parents and students. My name is Ms Ozlem Coskun and I will be teaching Literacy to Grade Five students this year. I will also be team teaching with Mrs Fusun Yemez; she will be teaching Reading Eggs and Spelling Mastery to our Grade Fives’.

In Literacy, all Grade Five students have received their Language homework booklets, along with their Reading Eggs passwords and usernames. Homework is due every Thursday. Parents, please ensure that you take time to check over your child’s homework and sign their booklets on a daily basis. Your child will be assigned two reading egg tasks per week. However, there are over 2000 books in the library section of the Reading Eggs Program; I encourage every child to read daily.

Grade Five students have all been given a daily diary and need to bring their diary to each class. It is important for them to organise and manage their time.

Our Literacy classroom has a new and exciting reading corner. We have named it the ‘Literacy Cafe’. Students who finish their classwork early have the chance to catch up on reading.
